February 20, 2007 Discussion Notes

We did an overview of the book of Romans using a John Piper sermon as our guide. The reason we did this overview is my concern for young Christians who come and go from the Bible study. If they are only there for Chapters 2 and 3 of Romans and leave, they would have a skewed view of the faith.

When we did the overview of the first seven chapters of Romans, we touched on many topics seldom discussed. We were blessed.

We closed by reading Romans chapter 8. If you are going to read Romans chapers 1-7, make sure your read chapter 8... Please do that.

Next week we will dig into Romans 1.

February 13 Discussion Notes

We finished the book of Acts this week. We asked "What did we learn?"
  1. Common ordinary men doing extra-ordinary things with the power of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Paul's determination--Acts 14.
  3. Message of Jesus Christ for all people, all races, all nations, all tribes.
  4. The coming of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Christ can and has and will, go with God's people all over the earth to take the message of reconciliation of man to God through Christ.
  5. The Holy Spirit will be with us in all we do. Jesus our provider or protector or redeemer. Amen.

Next week--We begin Romans. Read through Romans a couple of times.
