#1 - Review of January 23, 2007

Welcome to Shop Talk Cokato. This is a blog for the men in the Shop Talk Bible study. Please comment as you see fit. Everyone is welcome. I have invited people but someone brought it to my attention that I did not invite them. It is a good reminder to invite but we must also follow up on the people we invite. Accountability is something we don’t always like but we all need it.

We will review the week’s meeting, pose some questions for next week, and share prayer concerns.

On Tuesday night, January 23, 2007, we met to discuss chapters 25 and 26 of Acts. We ended our discussion at Acts 26:19. Some things we discussed:
Acts 25:19 – Paul claimed this dead man, Jesus was alive. What would we say if someone said “Give me evidence Jesus is alive?” Randy answered, “a transformed life…” He was right. Where have we heard that before?.
Acts 25:23 – We talked about pomp. We need to be careful we don’t get big headed like King Agrippa and Bernice. We shouldn’t get big headed in our family, business, church and our daily walk. Have a trusted friend who is honest with us at all times. Confess sin to God and to one another (James 5:16). This keeps us humble and grounded.
We discussed God rules in our lives—Acts 25:10-11. Paul was not afraid to die. If we’re the Lord’s, we shouldn’t be afraid either. Paul’s speaking in front of the king was fulfillment of scriptures. Note what Ananias said when Paul was saved…Acts 9:15. Read it. Note “their kings”.
Acts 26:1-3 – Show proper respect for all people in authority, even if we don’t like them. God ordained government and our leader. See Romans 13.
Remember to memorize scripture—Romans 12:2.
Pray. Pray. Pray.

Next week we begin on Acts 26:19. Notice:
What does it mean to prove our repentance by our deeds? Acts 26:20
Think about Acts 26:28
Notice verse 29—How do we live out our faith?
